413 Frances Street - Old Town - Key West

Just listed, but not by me, 413 Frances Street in Old Town Key West. When you enter the front doorway your eyes are immediately drawn to the Dade County Pine walls and stairway to the second floor by the sign over the stairway entrance that reads "Welcome To Paradise". This house is the embodiment of what would-be home buyers dream of in a Key West house. The Dade County Pine is a given. The almost rustic appearance is intentional. The lack of some finishes was an artistic choice and not an excuse to finish something. (The owner has meticulous records of all the remodeling work that was done.) This house has what discerning second home buyers want: lots of charm, off street parking (for two cars), a pool, and nothing that needs fixed. That's almost Paradise in itself.

The listing Realtor describes 413 Frances Street thus:
"Beautifully renovated historic home located on highly desirable Frances Street in the heart of Old Town Key West. Meticulous restoration with high ceilings, Dade County Pine walls and floors. Gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. Three bedrooms including downstairs bedroom with view of yard and pool. Pool, outdoor decking, and front porch for enjoyable outdoor living. Two off street parking spaces, great rental history and location near the Key West Bight and restaurants. A Key West Tropical Oasis For Island Living."
The main floor has the entry hall with living room and dining room on the right side of the house. A full bath is on this level as is the kitchen with center island. A full bedroom is located at the back of the house. It has French doors that open out onto the pool area. The downstairs living space would be great for a buyer that wants all the Key West charm but who doesn't want to have to climb stairs to go to bed. Upstairs there are two very good sized bedrooms and full bathrooms. CLICK HERE to see photos I took of this really charming home.

This home would make a great vacation rental. In fact it has been used that way for the past couple of years. The Historic Key West Seaport is a couple of blocks to the north. Duval Street is a five to seven minute walk. The Old Town Bakery is a block away. Blossoms Market is a block away down Elgin Lane.

Gary Thomas in a Nutshell

My photo
Key West, Florida, United States
I first read about Key West in a magazine called "After Dark" sometime in the mid 1970's. But it wasn't until March 1984 that I made my first visit to the island that would become my home. I had two weeks for a vacation and reserved a room at Colours Guesthouse (now Marrero's Guest House) for one week. I thought that if I didn't like Key West, I could always go back to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for the rest of my trip. But after a couple of days in Key West, that was no longer a consideration. But when I wanted to extend my stay for the extra week I found there was no room at the inn. The guesthouse owner did find me a room at LaTeDa, the infamous guesthouse/restaurant. That's a story I'll write another day. But those two weeks in Key West gave me the realization that I had found Paradise. Key West has been my home since 1993 and my only regret is that it took me so long to get here. I am a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties CRI. Let me help you find your new home or business in Paradise. Living in Paradise is not a slogan, it's a way of life.
