1719 Ashby Street - Key West

Just listed by Preferred Properties Key West, that's where I work but this is not my listing, 1719 Ashby Street which is located near the beaches in Key West, Florida. This ranch style two bedroom (three bath) home has 1279 sq ft of living space, a lush tropical garden, and a pool which is offered at $799,000. The listing agent describes the property this way:
"Secluded Oasis just one block off the Ocean and 5 minutes from downtown Key West. As you enter the home you immediately have that wonderful Key West feeling of bringing the indoor living to the outside. The living/dining area leads to the kitchen which opens to the pool and lanai. The master has its own bath and it too opens to the pool. The split floor plan allows you privacy from your guests. In the second bedroom there is also a laundry room. The backyard of this home is outstanding, with a very large pool and wonderful covered area, full bath and wet bar, surrounded by lush tropical landscaping complete with irrigation and great evening lighting. There is one off street parking space."
Like many of the homes in this part of Key West, the large lot (51' x 90') is surrounded by a privacy fence.  The pool area has lots of sun and also some comforting shade. When you feel like some beach action, you'll only need to walk a few blocks to Smathers' Beach where there is almost always something fun going on.

Hey Gary,

Any update on that home located on the corner of Southard and William? I know they had began renovations but haven't heard anything about it for a while.

Dear Anon, I got to go inside 730 Southard Street for the grand tour the day after Christmas. And Grand is this home. The architecture of this home is so simple. The colors are plain. But the place is regal in its simplicity.

I will write about the house in an upcoming blog. I guess I should have already done so. I posted a couple of photos on my other blog (http://keywestproperties.tumblr.com/) which show the house a couple of weeks before completion and at night a couple days after Christmas.

If you ever get a chance to attend some charity event that is held there, pay the price or admission. It is will be worth every penny.

I couldn't get the tumblr page to load, either. I'm dying to see this house!

Gary Thomas in a Nutshell

My photo
Key West, Florida, United States
I first read about Key West in a magazine called "After Dark" sometime in the mid 1970's. But it wasn't until March 1984 that I made my first visit to the island that would become my home. I had two weeks for a vacation and reserved a room at Colours Guesthouse (now Marrero's Guest House) for one week. I thought that if I didn't like Key West, I could always go back to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for the rest of my trip. But after a couple of days in Key West, that was no longer a consideration. But when I wanted to extend my stay for the extra week I found there was no room at the inn. The guesthouse owner did find me a room at LaTeDa, the infamous guesthouse/restaurant. That's a story I'll write another day. But those two weeks in Key West gave me the realization that I had found Paradise. Key West has been my home since 1993 and my only regret is that it took me so long to get here. I am a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties CRI. Let me help you find your new home or business in Paradise. Living in Paradise is not a slogan, it's a way of life.
