1120 South Street - Casa Marina Area Tropical Paradise - Key West

I had an eye opening experience a few days ago when I showed 1120 South Street which is located in the Casa Marina Area of Key West. I live nearby and often walk by or ride my bike past this home on the way to the gym. I had not been inside in more than twelve years. The facade had not changed during the years. The front yard has some very large trees and tropical foliage that give the property an almost cabin in the woods feel to me. I often tell my buyers that you can't tell what is behind the facade of many Key West homes. This house, dear reader, is one of those houses. Once I went past the threshold I knew I was in for a treat.
The original house was built in 1948. The current owner purchased the property in 2001 and thereafter did a total renovation of the property.   The remodeled house, quite like the art on the walls, has a contemporary flair.
The listing Realtor describes 1120 South Street thus:
"Escape to your own private oasis in the Casa Marina area, with lush tropical gardens, lounging lanais & a wonderful pool and patio. It is paradise in paradise! Beautifully renovated throughout, this 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath including detached guest cottage has it all! Cathedral ceilings, skylights, open floor plan, gourmet kitchen, all opening onto covered porches everywhere. Water features, in-ground hot tub & coral rock gardens add to the beauty of this large double lot. Carport & 4 off street parking spaces."
The revitalized home now has 1695 sq ft of living space under air which includes the large open living area, three bedrooms and three baths in the main house plus a guest cottage and bath. Multiple sets of French doors open out to the wrap around deck that provides what the listing agent describes as "lounging lanais". There you will be able to view the multiple garden venues, the pool, and catch a glimpse of the secluded spa hidden at the far end of the garden. Specimen trees and foliage surround the house on all sides.  The house sits on a double lot (88' x 112' or 9946 sq ft) which is typical of many of the large homes in the Casa Marina area.

There is even a small guest cottage located on the right side of the property. It has a separate entrance that would actually allow your guests to have their own private space (and you get to keep your space private as well)
1120 South Street is offered at $1,399,000CLICK HERE to view the Key West mls datasheet on this private oasis.  I took more photos which you can see if you CLICK HERE.

Gary Thomas in a Nutshell

My photo
Key West, Florida, United States
I first read about Key West in a magazine called "After Dark" sometime in the mid 1970's. But it wasn't until March 1984 that I made my first visit to the island that would become my home. I had two weeks for a vacation and reserved a room at Colours Guesthouse (now Marrero's Guest House) for one week. I thought that if I didn't like Key West, I could always go back to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for the rest of my trip. But after a couple of days in Key West, that was no longer a consideration. But when I wanted to extend my stay for the extra week I found there was no room at the inn. The guesthouse owner did find me a room at LaTeDa, the infamous guesthouse/restaurant. That's a story I'll write another day. But those two weeks in Key West gave me the realization that I had found Paradise. Key West has been my home since 1993 and my only regret is that it took me so long to get here. I am a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties CRI. Let me help you find your new home or business in Paradise. Living in Paradise is not a slogan, it's a way of life.
