1723 Bahama Drive - Key West

1723 Bahama Drive is located at the easternmost edge on the Isle of Key West. This three bedroom, two bath home is as clean as a whistle and ready for a new owner to move into.  The listing Realtor describes the home as...
"Bright and airy 3/2 family home, on one level with a very large pool. Open living/dining area lead to a covered lanai, outdoor kitchen and a cabana with a shower off the pool. Outstanding landscaping both in the front and back, designed by one of Key West leading landscape architects. This home has no record of flooding during Wilma. Hurricane doors and windows. There is also 1 off street parking spacel."
This home has a mellow, easy flow from room to room and a seamless transition from inside to the outside.  The laid back island lifestyle is evident everywhere from the large open living areas to the colorful bedrooms.
The front yard and rear garden were designed by landscape guru Pat Tierney.  1723 Bahama Drive has a densely planted front yard with low maintenance native plants that save water and provide plenty of privacy.  The owners have created their version of tropical paradise that includes a very large (and sunny!) pool surrounded by palm trees and tropical foliage. There is a covered lanai, an outdoor kitchen, and lots of room to grab an all over tan. Oh, yes, there is a colorful outdoor shower as well!

1723 Bahama Drive was built in 1963 of CBS (concrete block construction with stucco over). The house has 1473 sq ft of living space that sits on a 56' X 100' lot. The lot backs onto mangroves so you will lots of privacy when you use the outdoor shower.  The house itself is tastefully designed. The rooms ought to  accommodate most styles of furniture with ease. There are new tile floors, new A/C, and new wind impact windows and doors throughout the house.  I did not notice any deferred maintenance anywhere.  All of the outdoor spaces are tastefully designed and outfitted with quality materials.

Buyers who want a second home in Key West often overlook properties like this because they are not located a couple of blocks from Duval Street. Well, 98% of the houses in Key West are not located there either. This owner has a street legal "golf cart" type vehicle that zips down to Old Town  or anywhere else when the mood strikes.  The owner has a bigger home than most of the properties in Old Town and a beautiful sunny pool with lots of room for family and friends. As prices continue to rise in Old Town, smart buyers will look again at homes like these as wise investments.

Gary Thomas in a Nutshell

My photo
Key West, Florida, United States
I first read about Key West in a magazine called "After Dark" sometime in the mid 1970's. But it wasn't until March 1984 that I made my first visit to the island that would become my home. I had two weeks for a vacation and reserved a room at Colours Guesthouse (now Marrero's Guest House) for one week. I thought that if I didn't like Key West, I could always go back to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for the rest of my trip. But after a couple of days in Key West, that was no longer a consideration. But when I wanted to extend my stay for the extra week I found there was no room at the inn. The guesthouse owner did find me a room at LaTeDa, the infamous guesthouse/restaurant. That's a story I'll write another day. But those two weeks in Key West gave me the realization that I had found Paradise. Key West has been my home since 1993 and my only regret is that it took me so long to get here. I am a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties CRI. Let me help you find your new home or business in Paradise. Living in Paradise is not a slogan, it's a way of life.
