916 Pohalski Lane - Bank Owned Commercial - Key West

Just Listed,  916 Pohalski Lane Key West. Locals and returning guests who like to keep fit and generations of parents with little girls who were ballerinas will know this landmark property located just off Truman Avenue as The Coffee Mill. This is now a Bank Owned Property in need of a new owner. The listing broker at Preferred Properties describes this property this way:
"Located just off Truman Avenue, on Pohalski Lane, this well known charming building has been the location of a popular dance studio for more than a dozen years. The high ceilings and open floor plan offers great versatility. It's hard to find a commercial building like this in the heart of old town Key West - especially in this price range."

916 Pohalski Lane is situated on a 28.5' X 54. 5' lot (or 1572 sq ft).  The 1256 sq ft building dates back to 1889 according to the Monroe County Property Appraiser.  The building appears to be corrugated metal. The metal roof was replaced in 2013. The property is zoned HHDR with uses that include single and two-family residences, multi-family residential uses, and the following conditional uses group homes, cultural and civic activities, educational institutions and daycare, nursing homes, places of worship, protective services, public and private utilities, parking lots and utilities.

I searched the Historic Sanborn Fire Maps to see if I could determine when the building first appeared on the maps. Unfortunately no buildings were shown until the 1912 map which was identified as "Coffee Roasting".

Gary Thomas in a Nutshell

My photo
Key West, Florida, United States
I first read about Key West in a magazine called "After Dark" sometime in the mid 1970's. But it wasn't until March 1984 that I made my first visit to the island that would become my home. I had two weeks for a vacation and reserved a room at Colours Guesthouse (now Marrero's Guest House) for one week. I thought that if I didn't like Key West, I could always go back to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for the rest of my trip. But after a couple of days in Key West, that was no longer a consideration. But when I wanted to extend my stay for the extra week I found there was no room at the inn. The guesthouse owner did find me a room at LaTeDa, the infamous guesthouse/restaurant. That's a story I'll write another day. But those two weeks in Key West gave me the realization that I had found Paradise. Key West has been my home since 1993 and my only regret is that it took me so long to get here. I am a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties CRI. Let me help you find your new home or business in Paradise. Living in Paradise is not a slogan, it's a way of life.
