Just Listed, 915 Washington Street, Key West. Read today's blog quickly then get on your phone and call me to write an offer on this enchanting Casa Marina Area cottage. If you wait, you'll lose your chance to snap up this beauty before someone else does. If you doubt this Mr. Thomas, you will be sorry.
It is such a joy to view a home that is truly loved and taken well care of. You can tell by looking at the perfect house by how good it looks even before going inside. It's like seeing a little boy or girl with a bright and smiley  freshly scrubbed face, combed hair, and clean clothes. You get one chance n life to make a good impression. This house wins that point! While there are only a few other cottage style homes in the Casa Marina Area, this is the only one with such a presence. The listing Realtor describes this home this way:
"Vintage Key West cottage in the best neighborhood in old town. If you are looking for classic Key West living this is it. Large front porch adorned with conch shell gingerbread greets you as you enter a beautifully maintained great room with soaring cathedral ceiling and lots of light. French doors lead to deck and private pool. This is what Key West living is all about. Ease into a relaxed lifestyle of your own in this piece of paradise. New Brazilian hardwood floors through out with great tile flooring in the kitchen area. New tiled ensuite bath in master bedroom. This home has been lovingly cared for by the current owners. Beautiful landscaping, carport and extra storage room add to its appeal. Many recent improvements have been made to this property. Move into this Casa Marina neighborhood just a few blocks from the Atlantic ocean and easy bike ride to nightlife on Duval St."
This 1211 square foot home sits on a 3600 square foot lot at the corner of Washington and Grinnell Streets. You just cannot ask for a better location in Key West. The streets are wide and the houses are well maintained. Many of the homes in this area are second homes and most of the recent home sales were for properties priced well over one million dollars.
When you open the front door you enter into the great room with its vaulted ceiling that spans the east side of this home. Multiple sets of windows and French doors at the end provide ample muted light into this wonderful space. The color combination of the bright ceiling, colorful walls, and rich wood floors create a restful space for easy living. The French doors open out to the side yard where the pool is located.
This home officially has two bedrooms and ---- baths. There is space for an additional bedroom behind the carport. Approval has been received to turn that space into what could be a third bedroom. Below are photos of the bedrooms and other spaces as they exist today.
The front bedroom has a smallish en-suite bath. Sliding glass doors on the side lead to the rear yard which is long and narrow and that spans the back of the entire property from pool yard to the west property line.
The second bedroom has its own en-suite bath plus an exit door to the rear side yard. This bedroom has all the appeal of a mountain cottage. It is just too cute for words. I know some people have the need for big rooms and volume spaces. This is not one of those places. It is small, petite, and ever-so-sweet.
The storage room, pictured above, is accessed off the rear side yard. CLICK HERE to view more photos I took of this lovely home which is located in the Casa Marina Area.

Gary Thomas in a Nutshell

My photo
Key West, Florida, United States
I first read about Key West in a magazine called "After Dark" sometime in the mid 1970's. But it wasn't until March 1984 that I made my first visit to the island that would become my home. I had two weeks for a vacation and reserved a room at Colours Guesthouse (now Marrero's Guest House) for one week. I thought that if I didn't like Key West, I could always go back to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for the rest of my trip. But after a couple of days in Key West, that was no longer a consideration. But when I wanted to extend my stay for the extra week I found there was no room at the inn. The guesthouse owner did find me a room at LaTeDa, the infamous guesthouse/restaurant. That's a story I'll write another day. But those two weeks in Key West gave me the realization that I had found Paradise. Key West has been my home since 1993 and my only regret is that it took me so long to get here. I am a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties CRI. Let me help you find your new home or business in Paradise. Living in Paradise is not a slogan, it's a way of life.
