415 Amelia Street, Key West - Newly Listed - a Must See!

The really sweet cottage home located at 415 Amelia Street (just one-half block west of Duval Street) in historic Key West was just listed at $1,050,000. What a perfect time to list and an even better time to buy a house with so much to offer. Key West is full of returning visitors many of whom hope fulfill their dream of buying a home in Old Town.
The listing Realtor, not me, describes the house this way:
"This is a rare opportunity to own a beautiful & historic Conch home featuring 3 bedrooms & 1.5 baths plus a large salt-water pool. One of the bedrooms is a secluded and spacious second floor loft. The Cottage on Amelia sits in the very heart of the Historic District of Upper Duval. It nestles in a lot of almost 4000 sq. ft., perfectly positioned near the Southernmost Point & Hemingway's House, and is just a 5 min. walk from the Southernmost beach & cafe. This unique home is a blend of eclectic style and color. A special feature of this house is the unique and exceptional gingerbread woodwork around the eves. The rear of the house is a spacious, sunlit oasis with the benefit of a separate guest house and tropical outdoor shower. The large, salt water pool is a special feature with its waterfall and surrounding palm trees. A glorious Moroccan tent completes the atmosphere and provides a relaxing outdoor retreat. The carport and driveway comfortably accommodates two large cars, a valuable asset  for this part of town. The Cottage really is a 'must see'."
The living room is on the right side of the front entry, but as in most homes, the real living occurs around the kitchen and dining areas. This house is no exception. French doors open from the dining area out to a wrap-around deck that leads back to the pool. Bar stools provide an additional informal eating space overlooking the chef at work.
The first floor master bedroom is located at the right rear of this house. A set of French doors open out to the pool providing a quick escape for a midnight dip in the pool. The second bedroom is located on the second floor of the main house and a third bedroom is located in the poolside cottage.
which has its own bath plus an outdoor shower - no peeking allowed.
This 1504 square foot home sits on a 3960 square foot lot and uses the space wisely. There is covered off street parking in the front, wrap-abound deck on the west side, a large rear deck and outdoor seating and entertaining area plus a lovely pool with grotto. This home is currently owner occupied.  A prior owner did monthly vacation rentals. I think this place would be very successful as a monthly vacation rental once again. You cannot beat the location or amenities.

Gary Thomas in a Nutshell

My photo
Key West, Florida, United States
I first read about Key West in a magazine called "After Dark" sometime in the mid 1970's. But it wasn't until March 1984 that I made my first visit to the island that would become my home. I had two weeks for a vacation and reserved a room at Colours Guesthouse (now Marrero's Guest House) for one week. I thought that if I didn't like Key West, I could always go back to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for the rest of my trip. But after a couple of days in Key West, that was no longer a consideration. But when I wanted to extend my stay for the extra week I found there was no room at the inn. The guesthouse owner did find me a room at LaTeDa, the infamous guesthouse/restaurant. That's a story I'll write another day. But those two weeks in Key West gave me the realization that I had found Paradise. Key West has been my home since 1993 and my only regret is that it took me so long to get here. I am a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties CRI. Let me help you find your new home or business in Paradise. Living in Paradise is not a slogan, it's a way of life.
