1609 South Street, Key West, Florida

1609 South Street is new to the Key West real estate market is this mid-century home that looks nothing like houses of the early 1950s. It has been totally revamped and looks just great. The listing Realtor describes the home this way:
"This meticulous 3 bedroom 2 bath home has all the upgrades you are looking for. The open floor plan features granite counter tops, custom solid wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, marble baths & lots of storage. Master has a large walk thru closet & en suite bathroom. The front & backyard are beautifully landscaped with local fruit trees & private entertaining space. Garage and Parking! House is connected to 16kw generator with an 80 gallon propane tank."
The living area is on the left side of the home while the bedrooms and bathrooms are located to the right.
I was particularly impressed with the closet and storage spaces created during the renovation. Rea families need real storage spaces. This home has plenty of storage. The baths have all been updated as well. The 1240 sq ft home sits on a 60' X 94' lot but that is is about all of the original house that has not changed. The floor plan has been reworked with a modern open space living plan that is evident as soon as you walk in the front door.
Brick pavers create an easily maintained front entrance to the property and the garage. Readers from up north may not be aware that few homes in Key West have garages or carports.  This home also has a kid-friendly back yard with covered deck area and a nice grassy play area for the children all protected by privacy fencing.

Gary Thomas in a Nutshell

My photo
Key West, Florida, United States
I first read about Key West in a magazine called "After Dark" sometime in the mid 1970's. But it wasn't until March 1984 that I made my first visit to the island that would become my home. I had two weeks for a vacation and reserved a room at Colours Guesthouse (now Marrero's Guest House) for one week. I thought that if I didn't like Key West, I could always go back to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for the rest of my trip. But after a couple of days in Key West, that was no longer a consideration. But when I wanted to extend my stay for the extra week I found there was no room at the inn. The guesthouse owner did find me a room at LaTeDa, the infamous guesthouse/restaurant. That's a story I'll write another day. But those two weeks in Key West gave me the realization that I had found Paradise. Key West has been my home since 1993 and my only regret is that it took me so long to get here. I am a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties CRI. Let me help you find your new home or business in Paradise. Living in Paradise is not a slogan, it's a way of life.
