214 Golf Club Drive, Key West Golf Club Community

Just Listed, but not by me, 214 Golf Club Drive which is located in the Key West Golf Club Community. I have written about homes at the golf course many times and I often point out that you don't have to play golf or even like golf to own a home here. If you have never looked at a home at the golf course, you really need to take a look.
Every time I enter the golf course I immediately start to relax. The small road that winds through the homes the homes is lined by all types of trees and tropical foliage. The neat little homes have white picket fences. It's as if I am driving through a perfect version of small town America. As I approach the The Sanctuary I always so even more to take in the view of the lakes that flank the iron entry gates. I pause to wait for the gates to open and then proceed ahead. The larger homes that abut the golf course are referred to as Great Houses and the smaller homes are known as Spa Homes. 214 Golf Club Drive is a spa home. While the great houses have a covered off street parking spot next to the house, the spa homes have covered off street parking in near by lot located just feet away from the homes. When you arrive at the spa homes you are greeted by individual facades that distinguish the houses from each other.
Each spa home has 1120 square feet of living space divided equally between first and second floors. There is a small powder room located just inside the front entry. The kitchen and living area are one great room that offers a relaxed living environment. This home has been lovingly updated by the current owner who put in a new kitchen complete with Dade County Pine kitchen island. This is a one-of-a-kind custom made feature for this home. The owner added new dark stained bamboo floors on both levels. The crisp white trim looks show sharp next to the lightly painted walls.
Both bedrooms have private en-suite baths as well as vaulted ceilings which add height and dimension to these space.
French doors open from the living area out to the rear courtyard which includes a covered dining area, large deck, and swim spa. If you need a bigger pool in which to swim, there are two at the golf club. The largest pool is to quote Mr. Trump "HUGE!"! The golf club community is a part of the City of Key West. It is located on Stock Island, the island just before Key West. Our local hospital, the Florida Keys Community College, and the Gerald Adams School are each located nearby. If you bought this home, your kids could walk or ride their bikes to school. 911 United Street, Key West

Just listed by Preferred Properties, that's where I work but this is not my listing, 911 United Street which is located in the South of Truman section of Old Town Key West. While this beautiful house looks like a classic Conch Revival, it was actually built in 2000.  The listing Realtor describes the property thus:
"A truly magnificent property with so many superb features that they just cannot be listed here. Private heated pool and spa, large kitchen, granite counters, stainless appliances, open living - dining and kitchen are among the things that make this a special home. Additionally the master bedroom with walk-in closet and the guest bedroom both have private balconies; the master over-looking the pool."
This 2380 sq ft home sits at the corner of United and Packer Street. The 2970 sq ft lot is an irregular  34' X 94'. The house itself sits towards the font of the lot. The back portion of the lot contains the pool and rear garden area. And there is private off street parking located behind the fenced pool area.


911 United Street offers three full floors of living space. The first floor includes a formal entry way which leads back to the kitchen and great room just beyond. The second floor includes the guest bedroom with en-suite bath at the front of the house and the generous master bedroom at the rear. Both bedrooms have access to separate balconies. The rear balcony overlooks the pool below.
This home and land are owned in fee simple, just like your home up north in America. But here in Key West, this property is classified as a "land based condominium". The condominium designation allowed the new single family homes (and renovate one existing property) on lots that were smaller in size than required for new single family home construction. Some of the homes share a private lane that leads to off street parking spaces. The land is owned by the condo association which also maintains it. (Condo fees are just $325 yearly.)
A spiral stairway leads to the overly large third floor. The space run the length of the house. The front space could accommodate a single bed.  The back space currently has a daybed and office furniture. There is more than enough room for a king size bed in the space. There is a small bath on this floor as well. The listing only shows two bedroom but there is abundant space for more beds.
As noted above, a door off the master suite exits on to the rear second floor balcony that overlooks the pool and garden. A stairway provides access from the balcony for an early morning or late night dip in the private pool or spa.

1009 Eaton Street ~ Old Town ~ Key West

 

1009 Eaton Street is a  two bedroom/two bath Conch style home offered for sale by Preferred Properties Key West, that's where I work but this is not my listing.  The Monroe County Property Appraiser says was the house was built in 1923. I think it is much older than that because I found it on the 1889 Sanborn Map.  That would indicate it existed before 1889 when the map was drawn. Be that as it may, it is still an old house and that is why it is the type of property would-be second home buyers want in Key West. The cute part of this house is without dispute. The listing Realtor describes the property this way:
"Historic Cigar Cottage in the heart of Old Town Key West with the Seaport and some of our best restaurant's at your doorstep. Several years ago this home underwent a renovation and has an updated kitchen and 2 full baths, with preserved Dade County walls and floors. There are two bedrooms upstairs with a Jack n' Jill Bathroom. On the main level you have a open floor plan with French doors leading to the covered deck and spa."

The front porch welcomes friends and family to a 1170 sq ft home that sits on a 1578 sq ft lot just located one half block east of Grinnell Street. The Historic  Key West Seaport is located a block and one-half to the north. Frequent visitors may recall the Old Town Bakery is located at the corner of Grinnell Street and the new Paseo Restaurant is also located on the opposite corner.
The main floor of the house has an inviting living room with Dade County Pine walls, ceiling, and floors. The dining area is set off just a bit by an ancient room divider. The kitchen is located at the rear. The kitchen has been updated. There is also a full bath on the first floor even though both bedrooms are on the second floor.
There are two bedrooms on the second floor. The master bedroom is located at the front. The guest bedroom is at the rear. There is a second floor rear sundeck as well.  
The rear yard presently has a spa.  I think there may be room for a small in-ground pool.
The space is large enough. The cost might be a bit high as the pool would have to be dug by hand instead of machine.  You could save yourself a lot of money and do what a lot of locals do: go to Dante's and use the pool there. Buy lunch and a couple of drinks. You will save thousands and thousands of dollars on construction costs and not have to pay for a pool service, chemicals, and electricity to run the pool everyday of the year.
