1911 Fogarty Avenue, Key West - Bank Owned

Just Listed - 1911 Fogarty Avenue, Key West. This is a Bank Owned property in a good Key West location. According to the Monroe County Property Appraiser this home was built in 1953 on a 5,000 sq ft lot (50' X 100'). The bungalow style house has 1195 sq ft of living space under air conditioning plus a large east poured concrete patio.
The two bedroom house was updated about ten years ago. The ceilings were vaulted, a new kitchen was added, and the house was given a new look in general. It shows nicely. It has sat vacant for a while is is offered "as is no warranties or representations".  The listing Realtor says:

The front bedroom has nice southern exposure. The windows look out to the patio which is this house is located of the front of the house near the gated driveway.  Most families may enter off the patio but there is a real "front door" entrance on the west side of the house as well.
The house has one bathroom which has also been updated. There is a laundry area attached to the house on the east side. Additionally, there is an elevated storage shed or workshop located in the large backyard. The yard is quite large and has plenty of room for a pool and a new rear deck. Alternatively, a new owner might want to expand the current house or perhaps seek permission to expand the storage area and create a guest cottage with a bath. It would not be permissible to add a kitchen to make that into a separate living unit. A licensed Florida architect or general contractor could provide more information on the development possibilities of this house and lot.  I am just offering suggestions. Buyers are always looking for lower prices. 1320 South Street in Key West was listed at $1,799,000 in February 2016. The price was reduced today to $1,524,900.  The listing Broker describes this Bank Owned home this way:

This home was built new in 2008 and replaced a much smaller home that previously occupied this lot. I dug into my old shoebox and found a photo of the original house that was typical of the neighborhood at the half a century ago. The new place looks nothing like it. The neighborhood as a whole has changed as well. Most, but not all, of the smaller mid-century houses that dot this area have been replaced with much larger homes on beautifully landscaped lots. The Thompson Estate is located across the street and to the west. Thompson was a buddy of Ernest Hemingway.  I remember showing the Thompson property many years ago and marveling at the huge animal trophies on the walls.
The 3220 sq ft home sits on a 4939 sq ft lot. The facade looks like two houses were joined together to make one large home. That's not the case but the architecture is quite striking. There are three bedrooms each with en-suite bath plus a fourth bath on main floor. The great room is extra large and has doors which open out to the pool and rear deck. The adjacent family room with wet bar also opens out to the pool. Rich Tiger Wood floors are located on both floors of the house. 
The custom kitchen has about every high-end kitchen appliance that Viking makes including a gigantic range, double door refrigerator, ice maker, dishwasher, and wine cooler. This house appears to be in really good condition. I did not notice any deferred maintenance or see anything that was broken. The house is painted white throughout. 703 Eaton Street #2, Key West - Bank Owned Condo - Old Town

The newly reduced asking price on the Bank Owned Condo located at 703 Eaton Street #2 in Key West certainly made this property a lot more desirable. Now it is offered at just $435,900 or $434 per sq ft for this 1003 sq ft second floor unit. 
Soon after I moved to Key West in December 1993 I got invited to a lot of parties and get-togethers including a cocktail party at 703 Eaton Street which was then a single family home owned by a local doctor and author. I met a lot of very interesting people that night - I mean a lot!  That is something new comers to town can look forward to. Key West is very welcoming to all who come here. You can be as big a member of the community as you want or you can be anonymous. There is room for every.  When I arrived I immediately noticed this home was not like the other old houses I had been in because it wasn't old. In fact the original house pictured above was razed in the 1970s. The current building was constructed in 1979.  The building is quite large and was converted into
condominiums after the good doctor sold it several years ago.

The building layout and unit layout is very simple. Entrance to the property is controlled by a keyed entry system that really works. This unit owner will enter off a gate on the Elizabeth Street entrance and walk up a stairway to a separate gated entry to the covered exterior hall with views of Eaton Street. You enter into the living room which has a fireplace on one wall. There is a large balcony which overlooks the shared pool below. The compact kitchen is located adjacent to the entry. The master bedroom suite is located on the west side of the unit and the guest bedroom is located on the east side.


The second bedroom is located on the opposite side of the living room. This spatial separation gives the owner and guests or roommates privacy.  If you have looked at some of the more expensive units in Truman Annex you'll appreciate what I am saying. Oh, and this unit has views of the pool from both the living room and the master bedroom. 
The guest bath is located at the end of the hallway and adjacent to the second bedroom. Both bedrooms have ample closet space.
703 Eaton Street is located two blocks from the Historic Seaport and two blocks from Duval Street. You and your guests can walk to everyplace you might need to go in a matter of minutes, well, almost everything. The new 24 hour gym is located one block away. Starbucks is two blocks. Fausto's is one block away. I lived a little over a bock away for the first eighteen months I was in Key West. You can't beat the location for convenience.
