1320 South Street, Key West - New Price Reduction

Buyers are always looking for lower prices. 1320 South Street in Key West was listed at $1,799,000 in February 2016. The price was reduced today to $1,524,900.  The listing Broker describes this Bank Owned home this way:

This home was built new in 2008 and replaced a much smaller home that previously occupied this lot. I dug into my old shoebox and found a photo of the original house that was typical of the neighborhood at the half a century ago. The new place looks nothing like it. The neighborhood as a whole has changed as well. Most, but not all, of the smaller mid-century houses that dot this area have been replaced with much larger homes on beautifully landscaped lots. The Thompson Estate is located across the street and to the west. Thompson was a buddy of Ernest Hemingway.  I remember showing the Thompson property many years ago and marveling at the huge animal trophies on the walls.
The 3220 sq ft home sits on a 4939 sq ft lot. The facade looks like two houses were joined together to make one large home. That's not the case but the architecture is quite striking. There are three bedrooms each with en-suite bath plus a fourth bath on main floor. The great room is extra large and has doors which open out to the pool and rear deck. The adjacent family room with wet bar also opens out to the pool. Rich Tiger Wood floors are located on both floors of the house.

The asking price on La Brisa Condominium Unit 107 West originally offered at $650,000 is not offered at $579,000. That's certainly something for potential buyers to celebrate as  La Brisa is located directly across from Smather's Beach in Key West.

One last photo to remind you why people come to Key West. Our beaches aren't perfect, but they are pretty close to it. And they are very close if you happen to live across the street from Smather's Beach in Key West.

One of the many joys of living in Key West and selling homes here is the discovery of new places that I have never seen before. Two days ago I discovered a house located in the Mid-Town area of Key West which has been pampered like a favorite pup. I want to share that home with you today.  The listing Realtor describes 1708 United Street in Key West this way:
"Perfection. This house has been completely renovated and is move in condition. Three bedrooms/two bath easy to maintain house. This 1420 sq ft three bedroom, two bath home was built in 1976. This is just about the time when Key West was being discovered by a new generation of tourists who would turn this little forgotten island into a world class destination. The house sits elevated on the 52' X 100' (5200 square foot) lot. The lot size is more than twice of size of most lots in Old Town. The home has off street parking, a pool, and a lovely tropical yard. The interiors were revamped including the opening of the kitchen into the living area.
The house itself is a basic late 20th Century CBS house located in a suburban area. The exception to this property is the house is located in Key West Florida and that many of the updates reflect the love these owners have for island life. The others are pretty basic hurricane shutters for all windows. security system, gated off street parking, professionally landscaped yard, and so on.
The screened rear porch is a novelty in Key West. Most outdoor areas are not screened and do not need to be screened. But this owner created their space to their tastes. You will notice the windows have roll down shutters which provide discounts on wind insurance. The whole house has required shutters. The outdoor living area is a couple of steps lower than the dining area. If you look through the screen you will see the outdoor shower. It's a hoot! It is located off to the side as the back yard winds its way to the west. The pool area is on the east side of the yard.
