The asking price on La Brisa Condominium Unit 107 West originally offered at $650,000 is not offered at $579,000. That's certainly something for potential buyers to celebrate as  La Brisa is located directly across from Smather's Beach in Key West.

One of the many joys of living in Key West and selling homes here is the discovery of new places that I have never seen before. Two days ago I discovered a house located in the Mid-Town area of Key West which has been pampered like a favorite pup. I want to share that home with you today.  The listing Realtor describes 1708 United Street in Key West this way:

This 1420 sq ft three bedroom, two bath home was built in 1976. This is just about the time when Key West was being discovered by a new generation of tourists who would turn this little forgotten island into a world class destination. The house sits elevated on the 52' X 100' (5200 square foot) lot. The lot size is more than twice of size of most lots in Old Town. The home has off street parking, a pool, and a lovely tropical yard. The interiors were revamped including the opening of the kitchen into the living area.
The house itself is a basic late 20th Century CBS house located in a suburban area. The exception to this property is the house is located in Key West Florida and that many of the updates reflect the love these owners have for island life. The others are pretty basic hurricane shutters for all windows. security system, gated off street parking, professionally landscaped yard, and so on.

1609 Fagler Avenue, Key West

Looks and Locations of a home can be deceiving especially in Key West which has some incredible homes often located in unorthodox locations. It's a simple fact that many people are attracted to Key West because of the charm our Old Town area exudes. People love it.  Many of our recent homes were built to replicate the Old Town look.The new listing at 1609 Flagler Avenue is an example of a house which looks old from the street but which is contemporary on the inside. This house was built new in 2000 and renovated in 2009 by the present owner. I remember showing this house to buyers years ago when it was offered to the public for the first time. I recently got to see this home and was pleasantly surprised to see something totally unexpected. The listing Realtor describes the home this way:

The two above photos show the exterior and interior of the same main floor areas. The middle door opens into the greeting hall which immediately expands into the open living area. Doors to the west open into the kitchen while the doors on the right open into the main floor bedroom.
It should be patently obvious that this house was outfitted by a designer. If you read the listing agent's remarks cited above, you'd already know that. But you don't need to read to see understand the chic style of this home. As soon as you enter your eyes are drawn to the glass doors at the rear and the pool beyond.
Just off the front greeting hall is a large first floor bedroom and bath which can be opened to public view or made to disappear behind pocket doors. French doors can be opened out to the front porch. The bath is tucked around the corner.
While looking at the first floor bedroom, I thought it useful to mention the furnishings are unique and may be purchased separately from the house. How a new buyer uses this house would determine how this space might be used and whether these furnishings would fit the lifestyle of the new owner. If the style fits, you may be able to purchase it.
The master suite is quite large by Key West standards. Many of the historic homes in Old Town date back to the late 1800s when bedrooms had one purpose - to provide a place to sleep. People back then did not have seasonal wardrobes, televisions, computers, and maybe not even hobbies. Today it's the opposite. So having a cozy place to retreat to and away from the kids and other family members is a concept that many potential buyers may find appealing. This home offers abundant space to achieve that end. Imagine opening the French doors at night in the winter months and enjoying the still night air inside the bedroom or out of the rear covered deck.
