701 Washington Street- Casa Marina Area - Key West



Preferred Properties Key West just listed the spanish style home at 701 Washington Street in the premier Casa Marina Area for $2,195,000. The original home was built in 1959. The home was totally renovated over a two year period and was completed in 2009.


The renovation included all new natural stone and hardwood floors (except where original Cuban Tile was retained). While they still may not putt on the grounds at the Casa Marina, the hotel is still an integral part of life in Key West. You can purchase a membership to the Casa Marina beach club and use the gym, spa, and beach as often as you want. I recently sold a home in the area to a doctor and his family who joined the club. They are delighted with the decision because it enhances the easy living lifestyle in the Casa Marina area.

If belonging to a club isn't your thing, nearby Higg's Beach is free. Doggie Beach and Louie's Backyard and the After Deck Bar one block away from 701 Washington Street. Salute` on the Beach is a much cheaper place to eat, and the views are always interesting. You can even walk over to Duval Street, it's just a couple of blocks to the west. Being able to go wherever you want whenever you want is priceless.

Just listed, but not by me, 413 Frances Street in Old Town Key West. When you enter the front doorway your eyes are immediately drawn to the Dade County Pine walls and stairway to the second floor by the sign over the stairway entrance that reads "Welcome To Paradise". This house is the embodiment of what would-be home buyers dream of in a Key West house. The Dade County Pine is a given. The almost rustic appearance is intentional.  If you are a fan of great architecture, you will just love the interior hallways at Seafoam. I think this building is just wonderful. Every time I enter the hall I marvel at the richness of this space.

 The rear stairway leads to the pool and a coin operated laundry room. Some of the units in the building have their own laundry. This unit does not. The good thing is you only have to walk the equivalent to walking downstairs to your basement to clean your clothes. You might get a chance to see someone cute by the pool and get lucky. That probably won't happen on your way to your basement.

The building has only eight residential condo units plus two commercial units on the ground floor. One is a doctor's office and the other is Timmy Tuxedo, where Key West's finest waiters shop. A note of interest is the fact that this building does have a secured entrance with buzzer system.


 
If you are seriously considering buying a getaway place in Key West and want to keep the costs under control, consider this property. Forget that it has one bedroom. There are lots of guest houses located on the same block. Think of all the money you can save on not buying an extra bedroom or feeding your family and friends.  Even if you have pay for the guest house visit, you are money ahead.
