Sitting Pretty at 1509 Pine Street, Key West

I've been selling homes in Key West since 1996. Experience has taught me that the home at 1509 Pine Street in the quiet Meadows Area offers so many of the features home buyers seek in a Key West property. I am certain when any potential buyer sits on the front porch they will immediately and deeply fall in love with this location and this home because it is the epitome of what a Key West house ought to be.
The listing Realtor describes 1509 Pine Street, Key West, as
"Built in 2008 resembling the charming historic architecture of Old Town Key West, this 3 bedroom 3 1/2 bath is all new. With 11 foot ceilings and 8 foot doors, the spacious rooms are filled with light. The gourmet kitchen has granite counters, high end stainless appliances and an incredible amount of storage. The sunny heated pool and spa with water feature are controlled by mobile app. Each
bedroom is en suite and the master has a vaulted ceiling plus a private balcony. There is two zone central air, hard wood and travertine floors, solid wood doors, high ceilings on both floors, crown molding and high end fixtures used throughout the home. This home is in pristine move in condition and will delight the most discerning buyer. Private parking is accessed through electric gates at both ends of the driveway. Plenty of street parking for guests. Great Meadows location near everything Key West has to offer. Easy to see!"
The Meadows of Key West was designed to be and is the epitome of design and high-end construction in Key West. The homes were built to with stand the challenges of our sub-tropical climate and sunny days. The Hardiboard siding and impact windows and doors will keep long term maintenance and insurance costs down as opposed to other stick built homes in our area. Each home has a private pool and carport which is accessed via private rear driveway which is managed by the home owner association whose sole function is to maintain the limited common areas. Just like in your home up north, you as homeowner of this home would be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of your front and rear yards and pool.
Like many of the Grand Conch Houses of Old Town, this home has a covered front porch located off the master suite.  The ceiling in the master bedroom is vaulted which really adds dimension to this space that includes a good-sized walk in closet and en-suite bath. Readers should study the architectural detain in the second floor porch. You just won't find this kind of quality at this price in a similarly sized historic home in Old Town - at least not at this price. You might for a million dollars more. But not at this price. And if you find one, your maintenance costs and insurance costs will still be higher.
There are two additional bedrooms on the second floor both of which have private en-suite baths and ample closets. The rear bedroom (pictured above) is locate above the carport. I guess you could refer to it as a carriage house of sorts. Note that both guest bedrooms have tray ceilings, crown molding, recessed lights, and many more design feature.

214 Golf Club Drive, Key West Golf Club Community

Just Listed, but not by me, 214 Golf Club Drive which is located in the Key West Golf Club Community. I have written about homes at the golf course many times and I often point out that you don't have to play golf or even like golf to own a home here. If you have never looked at a home at the golf course, you really need to take a look.
Every time I enter the golf course I immediately start to relax. The small road that winds through the homes the homes is lined by all types of trees and tropical foliage. The neat little homes have white picket fences. It's as if I am driving through a perfect version of small town America. As I approach the The Sanctuary I always so even more to take in the view of the lakes that flank the iron entry gates. I pause to wait for the gates to open and then proceed ahead. The larger homes that abut the golf course are referred to as Great Houses and the smaller homes are known as Spa Homes. 214 Golf Club Drive is a spa home. While the great houses have a covered off street parking spot next to the house, the spa homes have covered off street parking in near by lot located just feet away from the homes. When you arrive at the spa homes you are greeted by individual facades that distinguish the houses from each other.
Each spa home has 1120 square feet of living space divided equally between first and second floors. There is a small powder room located just inside the front entry. The kitchen and living area are one great room that offers a relaxed living environment. This home has been lovingly updated by the current owner who put in a new kitchen complete with Dade County Pine kitchen island. This is a one-of-a-kind custom made feature for this home. The owner added new dark stained bamboo floors on both levels. The crisp white trim looks show sharp next to the lightly painted walls.
Both bedrooms have private en-suite baths as well as vaulted ceilings which add height and dimension to these space.
French doors open from the living area out to the rear courtyard which includes a covered dining area, large deck, and swim spa. If you need a bigger pool in which to swim, there are two at the golf club. The largest pool is to quote Mr. Trump "HUGE!"! That pool, the fitness center, and nearby butterfly gardens are maintained by the home owners association which also provides gated security for homeowners. CLICK HERE to see more of the photos I took of this home and the golf course community.
The golf club community is a part of the City of Key West. It is located on Stock Island, the island just before Key West. Our local hospital, the Florida Keys Community College, and the Gerald Adams School are each located nearby. If you bought this home, your kids could walk or ride their bikes to school. If you like pizza, the best pizza place in town, Roostica, is also located on Stock Island as are several small restaurants. CLICK HERE to view more photos of this property.
214 Golf Club Drive is offered at $529,900. CLICK HERE to view the Key West mls datasheet and listing photos. Then please call me, Gary Thomas, 305-766-2642, to set up a private showing of this really charming spa home. I am a buyers agent and a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties Key West.

1607 Laird Street, Key West

If you are a buyer looking for a place that is totally livable as it exists and that does not need to be fixed, the charming home at 1607 Laird Street in the mid-town area of Key West may be the place you have been hoping to find. The listing Realtor, not me, describes this house as
"This VERY WELL MAINTAINED home is priced well below comparable properties in the area. Located in beautiful Mid Town Key West it is perfectly positioned for quick access to downtown yet far enough to enjoy quiet privacy. Freshly renovated floor plan brings additional light and tranquil airiness to the common rooms. Including a Permitted unfinished Detached Studio ready to make it your own! New Hard Wood Flooring, Covered Parking, Granite Counters, Out Door Shower, Mature Landscaping, and Extra Storage are just some of the amazing features of this MUST SEE Key West Gem!"
When you enter the home you walk into foyer and then pass into the living room which has a functional fireplace located to the right. Dual openings on either side allow access to the family area. While I wrote at the outset that this home is livable as it exists, I can't help but thinking opening the fireplace so that it opens to either side would be money well spent. This space is already classy. Updating the fireplace would give this area much more appeal in my opinion. The photo directly above shows one of several new impact glass sliders and windows that recently were added to this home. The new sliders and windows are part of the updating that was recently done to this home. The impact glass will significantly reduce the cost of wind insurance and also reduce sounds from the outside.
The kitchen and dining area are located to the left of the front entry. The kitchen door opens out to the covered carport area. This makes it easy to bring in the groceries under sunny or rainy skies. You need to think about this when considering buying a house in Key West. This is a rarity here. The guest bath is located just off the dining area.
The master bedroom has new French doors that open out the backyard which has room for a pool. Another set of French doors open out from the family living area out to a covered porch and into the backyard area. This open area is begging for someone to spice it up. There  is so much potential here.
The guest bedroom is located at the left rear of the home where another set of French doors open out the backyard where there is newly built rear building that has yet to be completed. The building measures 16' X 12' and is built to code as it sits. The interior is totally virgin and awaits the creative mind of the new owner to finish off this space. There is an outdoor shower located just a few feet away from the new building. And the laundry area is nearby. Also notice the new fence and nicely landscaped yard.
1607 Laird Street is offered at $669,000 or $421 per sq ft for this 1588 sq ft home that sits on a large 61.5' X 88' (5412 sq ft) lot. The house was originally built in 1958 but has been upgraded by the recent owners. CLICK HERE to view the Key West mls datasheet and more listing photos. Then please call me, Gary Thomas, 305-766-2642, to schedule a showing of this nice home. I am a buyers agent and a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties Key West. Even though the place looks great as is, a new owner could add a few things to really make this place an outstanding home. And don't forget, the Great Atlantic Ocean and the Key West Beaches are only a couple of blocks away. People from all over the world to come to Key West to spend a few days enjoying all we have to offer. If you lived here, you would be home right now.
