2116 Fogarty Avenue Key West

2116 Fogarty Avenue Key West

The three bedroom/two bath ranch at 2116 Fogarty Avenue has been recently updated and is is move-in condition. It will appeal to a family who wants space to grow and plenty of room for the kids to play safely.

Bedroom #3

The 1258 sq ft home sits on a spacious 5000 sq ft lot (50' x 100').  CLICK HERE to view Google aerial of the property.  The house sits more towards the front of the lot which leaves ample room in the rear for a pool at some time in the future. There is an existing shed that might make a nice pool house or guest cottage at a later date. And don't overlook that huge second level sundeck as well.
Pool House or Play House

The house itself is all spiffed up and ready for move-in. The combined living, dining, and kitchen area is open and bright. French doors at the rear open out to the rear yard where you might add a pool. The master bedroom is quite large and the two other bedrooms are larger than some I have seen in other houses in the area. CLICK HERE to view more photos I took of this property.

Bank Owned - 106 Golf Club Drive - Key West

Just listed, but not by me, a two story Bank Owned townhome at the Key West Golf Club Community. 106 Golf Club Drive is a two bedroom home that was built in 1997. It has 810 sq ft of living space under air including what is called a "bump out" on the ground floor which adds noticeable extra room to the main floor living space. Both bedrooms are located on the second floor and each has a vaulted ceiling which gives each room a more spacious feeling. This home has first and second floor porches on both the front and rear.
I have been inside a lot of bank owned homes in the past few years, and I have been inside a lot of Golf Club homes as well. I opened the door to this house and did not know exactly what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to see a place that is, as the listing agent says:
"This 2 bedroom and 1.5 bath townhome is clean and is in move-in ready condition. Home has screened in balconies off the living room and the master bedroom. Property has views of the tranquil pond and rock garden and is steps from the main pool and fitness center."
The back of the house is located on The Butterfly Garden which has a small pond and walking paths that traverse the wonderfully landscape area. The views of the butterfly garden from inside the screened second floor rear balcony are magical. But it is when you get back into the garden itself your inner zen takes over. Just as I got ready to take a photo looking back toward today's home a monarch butterfly flew by me as if on cue. Too bad he got away before I could snap him.
106 Golf Club is in the background
As I got prepared to leave the house, I decided to walk over to the larger of the two pools owners at the golf club get to use. The walk took me maybe 60 to 90 seconds at most.  The fitness center is also located there.  Use of the fitness center is included in the monthly homeowner fees which are $333 (includes security, common area maintenance, and cable tv). The pool rivals something you would expect at a great resort.  CLICK HERE to view a slideshow of photos I took of this home, the pool, and the butterfly garden.  You'll be making plane reservations to come down.
106 Golf Club Drive is offered at $249,900CLICK HERE to view the Key West Association of Realtors mls datasheet and to view listing photos.  But better than that please call me, Gary Thomas, 305-766-2642 to schedule a showing of this affordably priced Key West home.  I am a buyers agent and a full time Realtor at Preferred Properties Coastal Realty, Inc. in Key West.  Let me help you find your place in Paradise.

621 Grinnell Street - Hidden Old Town Bungalow - Key West

I have written many times about some of the hidden houses of Key West, those special places that are rarely seen by most locals and tourists.  Often they are located on one of our slow lanes which are mostly used by people that live there.  Some are little houses tucked behind a larger house.  Others are only accessible by a walking easement. The bungalow at 621 Grinnell Street is hidden, to be sure, but it has off street parking that could accommodate two cars, a yard large enough for a good sized pool, and it is in move-in condition right now. Oh, yeah, it is plenty quite back there as well.

The listing Realtor describes 621 Grinnell Street thus:
"True Key West Classic Conch Home awaits your personal touches. You will find a taste of Old Key West! Lovely wrap around screened porches to relax and share a quiet moment. This home boasts 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, lovely open floor plan that makes it perfect for entertaining. Gracing this home are beautiful Dade County Pine wood floors that bring warmth and character to every room. Covered Lanai, Jacuzzi, possible room for a small pool with a pool house already in place. There are 2 off-street parking spaces. X500 Flood zone."

The main floor bath is something that you will either love or hate. I love it. It is, to me , what living in Key West is all about. Oh, there is an outdoor shower as well. It has privacy walls, too.

There are two or three bedrooms upstairs depending on how you use the spaces.

Guest cottage
The Monroe County Property Appraiser says the house was built in the 1920s and that it has1562 sq ft of living space under air.  The living space includes the small guest cottage with bath. The irregularly shaped lot is 3293 sq ft which includes the driveway. The house sits on a 50' x 50.25' section and the driveway makes up the balance of the lot. The driveway is not an easement. Building permits show that the house was updated in 1995 and 1996. The interior finishes reflect the styles that were popular at that time. (There isn't any granite nor stainless steel. Everything looks very clean and well maintained.)  CLICK HERE to view a slide show of more photos I took of this great property.

1109 Virginia Street - Old Town - Key West

Just listed by Preferred Properties, but not by me, 1109 Virginia Street in the Old Town area of Key West. This two bedroom/one bath home has vaulted ceiling in the combined living room and kitchen areas. French doors open out to the rear deck and pool. The place is cozy and comfy and is priced to sell at just $435,000. CLICK HERE to view the Key West Association of Realtors mls datasheet.

The listing Realtor describes the property this way:
"Charming conch home located in great neighborhood. One block from White Street, shopping and restaurants. Two bedroom / one bath home with nice front porch. Deep lot. Small pool."

The house is laid out different than the photo above would suggest. The main entry is located on the west side of the house mid-way between the main bedroom which is at the front of the house. The living area is at the rear. This layout is typical of many older homes that have had room re-assignments that place sleeping areas up front and save the money views of a pools and gardens for the living areas that are often relocated to the rear of homes.

The house has 720 sq ft of living space that sits on a 28' x 103' lot with mature trees at the rear. The main bedroom is quite large while the second bedroom is not so large. There is a second level loft which is not included in the square footage. The living space is quit comfortable as it now exists. The listing agent suggested that a new owner might be able to add a guest cottage at the very rear of the property. The foundation of an old out building remain in place just in a case a new owner might want to obtain permission to build a new structure.

Foundation of former out building

One of the nice features of this house is the large sunny deck and inviting pool. I think the house looks and functions great the way it currently sits. A new owner could always do some tweaking to make the place extra special, but the house really does not need any major work done to it.

If you are  a fitness freak or yoga fan, this is the area  for you.  There are several gyms and yoga studios within a couple of blocks walk.  The Atlantic Ocean is a few blocks to the south.  All of the hoopla of Duval Street is within a 7 to 10 minute walk.
